Mari Vanna is a trendy Russian restaurant located on a popular block between the Flatiron and Gramercy. It was named after a mythical woman named Mari Vanna, who welcomed diners into her home with open arms, feeding them traditional Russian fare on her finest china and linens. Laden with extraordinary attention to detail, Mari Vanna will immediately transport each guest into an archetypal Russian home adorned with trinkets and tchotchke, including the iconic Russian Bear, stacking dolls and Cheburashka, bookshelves filled with Russian literature, elaborate chandeliers hung far and wide and crystal bowls of Sushki, a traditional Russian tea bread, placed on each table.
Complementing the authentic fare is a vodka program like none other, featuring dozens of top-shelf Russian vodka, as well as selections from all over the world, more than 70 varieties total. Mari Vanna also makes an eclectic list of house-infused Russian vodkas with flavors ranging from sweet to spicy and savory. Guests can sip on vodka infused with Horseradish, Beets, Oats & Honey, Apricot, Watermelon, Garlic & Dill and Pineapple, just to name a few, all displayed in giant canisters at the bar. The Mari Vanna Apricot Martini puts Apricot infused vodka to the test, along with Canton, Lemon Juice, simple syrup and is garnished with a Turkish dried Apricot floating at the bottom.
Mary Vanna is considered to be a Voguish place because of it’s frequent celebrity visitors. Fashion icons such as Valentino and Daphne Guinness were spotted having their “Russian moment” there.
