Jean Paul Gaultier – Bourgeoises sans âge
Last week Montreal was very busy hosting the annual Fashion and Design Festival. It started on Wednesday August 3, and ended on Saturday August 6. The festival had different fashion shows, contests and concerts. I was lucky to attend a beautiful fashion show on the first day of its opening. It was a special presentation of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall/Winter collection 2011-2012. The show was presented in a special collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. I have already spoken in one of my posts about Jean Paul Gaultier and his exhibition in Montreal. You can read it here.
The show was called Bourgeoises Sans Âge, and it featured 30 men’s and women’s looks from the designer’s fall/winter prêt-à-porter collection. The theme of JPG collection was a celebration of the age and the timeless beauty. It was dedicated to the confident women who appraise their age and who refuse to look younger by baring their skin and wearing the garments inappropriate for their age. As the designer would describe himself: a Parisian dippy and lightweight appearance, giving the impression of ease and joy.
However, before the new collection was presented, people got to enjoy the designer’s previous creations that hugely contrasted from his newest collection. It was very interesting to look at, and to analyse how Jean Paul Gaultier has developed his style over the years.
I also wanted to mention that it was very nice of the organizers and the DJ to pay the tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, by playing and mixing the singer’s songs. The whole atmosphere of the show was amazing and of course unforgettable.
